RESIDENTIAL FENCING QUESTIONS

  • How much will a new fence cost?

At Master Wire we understand that a fence is a large investment for your home. While we do offer free at home estimates we recommend using our free estimate tool here on our website. This will allow you to pick the type of fence you are looking for and decide on your layout and gate locations. Based on that information you will get a general budget of what the fence installation will cost. A typical residential fence installation can range anywhere from $1,500.00 to $10,000.00 plus.

  • How long will it take to install a residential fence?

While all installations depend on the size of the project, a typical residential fence takes on average between 1-3 days to complete. When our salesman meets with you he will go over any conditions or issues that would impact the installation. Rest assured when we start your project we intend to stay on it until it’s complete.

  • Is it cheaper to purchase a fence in the winter?

This is another popular question. While we install fence year round, fence installation is a seasonal business. While you can probably get a better deal on the cost of material in the winter the installation may be a different story. The thing to keep in mind with this is that it will typically take a little longer to install a fence in the cold weather when the ground is frozen and much more difficult to dig. This is the offset that could keep the full install price relatively similar to the spring or summer seasons.

  • Is wood less expensive then vinyl?

This is a popular question for homeowners. While wood is indeed less expensive it’s not as drastic a difference as in years past. The thing to take into consideration here is that on vinyl fence you get a lifetime warranty or at the very least 20 years. On the other side of that there is NO warranty with wood. For wood to last there is a lot of time and money spent on the treatments needed to protect it from the environment. With that in mind a wood fence will end up costing more than a vinyl fence within a couple of years.

  • How far apart do you set fence posts?

The post spacing will depend on the type of fence you decide is best for your home. A vinyl fence typically has a post space of 8’. A residential aluminum fence will have 6’ post spacing and a chain link fence will have posts spaced no more than 10’ apart. We are happy to answer any questions you may have about the installation process.
